Background of Assumption University
ABAC
or Assumption University as it is now known, was originally
initiated in 1969. It was formally established in June 1972
and accredited by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry
of University Affairs in May 1975. The founding father of
this institution is Brother Bernard Mary of the Brothers of
St. Gabriel, a Catholic religious congregation devoted to
education and philanthropic activities in Thailand and other
countries. The congregation runs 17 educational institutions
in the country.
Beginning
its operation on a rather small-scale basis with only 51 students,
two classrooms, three administrative personnel, and a part-time
faculty, Assumption Business Administration College has grown
by leaps and bounds into Assumption University in 1990 with
a student body of more than 9,000 including over 500 graduate
students and a high-caliber full-time faculty supplemented
by a large number of part-time faculty drawn from relevant
business circles and government offices.
Assumption
University is the only Founding Member in South East Asia
of the International Internet Society with headquarter in
the United States and members in 150 countries. The University
